## Description

The European Solar Telescope (EST) is a next generation large-aperture solar telescope that specializes in studying the magnetic coupling between the deep photosphere and upper chromosphere of the Sun. With a 4.2-meter primary mirror, the EST is optimized for high spatial and temporal resolution, allowing for the diagnostics of thermal, dynamic, and magnetic properties of plasma over many scale heights. This is achieved through multi-wavelength imaging, spectroscopy, and spectropolarimetry using several instruments simultaneously. Situated in the Canary Islands, a prime location for astronomical observations, the EST provides European solar astronomers with essential tools for ground-based solar research. It also offers a unique opportunity for European industry to utilize its expertise in this field. As the largest solar telescope ever constructed in Europe, the EST plays a crucial role in understanding astrophysical processes, solar variability, and the impact of solar activity on Earth. The European Solar Telescope Foundation, comprised of nine institutions from seven European countries, supports the project's development and construction, ensuring scientific benefits of both quantity and quality for the European solar research community.
