## Description

Energy and Environmental Economics, Inc. (E3) is an energy consulting firm that helps clients navigate changes in the electricity industry and the transition to a low-carbon economy. Since 1989, E3 has provided independent analysis to public- and private-sector organizations, including utilities, regulators, policymakers, developers, and investors. Its work supports strategic decisions shaped by new public policies, emerging technologies, and changing customer expectations.

E3’s expertise spans asset valuation and market price forecasting, resource planning and procurement, distributed energy resources, transportation electrification, energy and environmental policy, and cost-of-service analysis and rate design. The firm also advises on transmission planning and pricing, services for large energy users, regulatory strategy, and litigation support. Its projects and case studies address topics such as electricity market efficiency, capacity markets, flexible loads, and the effects of data centers on residential rates.

E3 also develops analytical tools, including its Resource Cost (RECOST) model, which uses discounted cash flow analysis to calculate resource costs.
