## Description

The Computer History Museum (CHM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of computing through its collections, exhibitions, programs, and educational resources. Its website features historical stories and artifacts, including the source code of the Eudora email client, released with permission from Qualcomm for its historical value and possible future revival.

Eudora was an influential email program created by Steve Dorner at the University of Illinois in 1988. Designed to bring email to personal computers, it became known for its speed, ease of use, and ability to manage large mail collections. Qualcomm licensed Eudora in 1991, expanded it from Macintosh to DOS and Windows, and introduced it as a consumer product in 1993. The software was offered in free and paid editions and attracted millions of users. After years of development, Qualcomm discontinued it in 2006. CHM’s article documents the program’s origins, growth, and decline, while making its source code accessible as part of the museum’s work to preserve significant technology history.
