## Description

The European Para Championships (EPC) is a prestigious multisport event held every four years in a major European city, just before the Paralympic Games. In 2023, Rotterdam, the Netherlands will host the inaugural edition of the championships from August 8 to August 20. Over 1,500 Paralympic athletes from 45 European countries will gather to compete and vie for the title of European Champions in ten different parasports. All sports featured in the European Para Championships 2023 have a direct connection to the Road to the Paris 2024 Paralympics, with athletes having the opportunity to earn Paralympic Qualifying Points and even secure direct qualification for Paris 2024 in some sports. This unique event will encourage cross-pollination and collaboration among sports federations and associations. The mission of the European Para Championships is to establish a new standard for Paralympic sports events worldwide and inspire people from all walks of life to participate in sports and exercise, irrespective of their abilities or background. By nurturing connections and embracing opportunities, the championships aim to give adaptive sports the recognition they deserve. The organizers are committed to ensuring the sustainable continuity of the European Para Championships, and have developed a comprehensive plan that will see the event return to the European sports calendar in the future, including 2027, 2031, and beyond. European Para Championships BV, as the rights holder of the event, is responsible for organizing the 2023 edition in Rotterdam.
