## Description

EU-Schoolfruit is a pioneering initiative aimed at encouraging children to consume more fruits and vegetables in schools across the Netherlands. Funded by the European Union, this program allows participating schools to receive three portions of fresh produce weekly for 20 weeks at no cost. By incorporating healthy eating habits into the classroom, EU-Schoolfruit not only provides children with essential nutrients but also fosters a deeper understanding of food and nutrition.

Since its inception in 2011, the program has successfully engaged over 7,000 school locations, promoting healthier choices among students and increasing their exposure to diverse fruits and vegetables. The delivery of at least 70 grams of produce per serving complements children’s recommended daily intake and introduces them to various flavors, essential for developing their palates.

Schools interested in joining the EU-Schoolfruit program can enroll for the upcoming 2024-2025 year during designated registration periods. By participating, educational institutions contribute to the health and well-being of their students while promoting sustainable eating practices.
