## Description

Evot is an open-source coding agent designed to run in the terminal, offering a lightweight harness that lets AI models plan and carry out coding tasks with minimal overhead. Its system prompt and tool set use about 1,000 tokens, with four tools—read, bash, edit, and write—whose straightforward contracts leave decisions to the model rather than imposing a fixed workflow.

Available for macOS and Linux, Evot can be installed from the command line and does not require an API key to get started. Users can also bring their own credentials for Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Kimi, OpenRouter, or other compatible endpoints.
