East Wayne Street Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families and individuals in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Established in 1965, it was created to address and meet the needs of the neglected central city neighborhood. With a focus on academic and vocational education, the center empowers individuals to become self-sufficient.

Church, built-in 1917, East Wayne Street Center has been serving low-income families and children for the past 56 years. It strives to improve the overall living conditions of impoverished households by stabilizing the home environment, addressing environmental impediments, and paving the pathway to self-sufficiency through education. Most of the families served by the center are single female-headed households, with significantly lower incomes compared to two-parent families.

Research shows that children from single-parent families are more likely to face challenges in education and employment. In Allen County, where the center operates, 40% of births are to single mothers and 24% of young children live in poverty. East Wayne Street Center offers various programs to support its target population, including Family Literacy, Project Solve, and a Food Bank.
