Our story began in 2007 when our founder, Matt Mayer, a web developer and Shanghai resident, created an online metro map for Shanghai. Frustrated with outdated information and slow loading times, Matt developed ExploreShanghai, a site that quickly became the most popular metro map in both English and Chinese. As the Shanghai metro system expanded, so did our maps. We launched ExploreBeijing, ExploreGuangzhou, and ExploreHK to cover the four largest metros in greater China. In 2009, we introduced our first iPhone app, bringing our maps to users on the go. Today, ExploreMetro serves millions of users in seven of Asia's biggest cities, providing up-to-date information, route planning, and clear mapping.
