Extension Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the community for over 30 years, providing professional and efficient fire suppression, emergency preparedness, emergency rescue services, fire prevention, and public education. The department is made up of dedicated men and women from all walks of life who respond to approximately 40-60 calls per year. These calls include structure fires, river rescues, motor vehicle incidents, ambulance assists, chimney fires, grass, bush, and forest fires, vehicle heavy equipment and industrial fires, as well as mutual aid assistance, flammable and combustible fuel leaks, low-embankment rescue, and dangerous goods spills.

The department's command structure includes a Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Training Officer, Captains, Lieutenants, and Firefighters. They receive emergency dispatch through the Surrey Dispatch Centre and are equipped with radio pagers and smartphone apps to quickly respond to emergencies. Training standards are set under IFSTA and NFPA guidelines, and the department places a high emphasis on training.
