About

Description

The Environmental Youth Alliance (EYA) is a non-profit organization located in East Vancouver, British Columbia. They work towards empowering youth from equity-deserving communities to become environmental stewards through their various programs. EYA offers land-based education and employment training programs for youth aged 14-25.

Their programs focus on native plant horticulture, ecological restoration, plant medicine, and community leadership. They have programs like Roots & Shoots, which provides paid land-based job training and internships for Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, and individuals living with disabilities aged 18-25. They also offer Nature Stewards, a free land-based education program for youth aged 14-18 from equity-seeking communities.

In addition, EYA has Peer Mentors, a volunteer program for youth aged 18-25 from equity-deserving communities who are interested in developing skills in land-based education and youth work. They also have the Youth Habitat Crew, which offers paid summer jobs for youth aged 15-25 to develop land-based job skills. Furthermore, EYA organizes school field trips where public school classes can engage in 90-120 minutes of land-based learning at their programming sites in Strathcona Community Gardens or Renfrew Ravine.
