About

Description

Yume Furusato is a brand that nurtures the power to live in children by offering a unique educational event called Kodomo Yume no Shoutengai or Children's Dream Shopping Street. This event allows kids to experience the excitement and challenges of working as shopkeepers and participating in the management of the children's dream shopping street, along with banks, police, and other businesses. At the shops, children have the freedom to decide what to sell and what services to offer, other than food and drinks.

They learn the ups and downs of running a business, without adult interference in their decision-making process. Some shops may thrive while others struggle, and children also have the opportunity to earn wages. However, it's up to them to determine if they want to improve their performance or not.

The event encourages children to take inspiration from their peers and many of them eagerly participate again, resulting in a high repeat participation rate. Through running their own shops and undertaking various job challenges, children gain the ability to learn, think, and make decisions for themselves - the power to live - in an enjoyable way. What are the positive aspects of this event? Children get insight into money and economic systems.

They can earn the world's first rice-based currency called Omusubi Currency, which can be used at local shops or exchanged for locally produced rice. When children use their earned currency, they have the opportunity to interact with various adults who work in their local community. This experience allows them to learn firsthand about the significance of work and the core principles of the economy.

The participation fee for this event is returned to the children as wages. The operation of the children's dream shopping street is driven by the children themselves. They perform public tasks, such as reception, job introductions, payments of wages, announcements, and enforcement of rules.

In return for these tasks, the children receive Omusubi Currency as their wages. The participation fee serves as the source of the wages paid to the children. This system resembles the one in which adults pay taxes to receive public services, allowing the children to unwittingly learn about the workings of society.

It's important to note that children themselves actively choose to participate in this event, as evidenced by feedback gathered through surveys. Many children mention that they decided to participate after seeing flyers or being invited by friends, rather than being told to do so by their parents. The Children's Dream Shopping Street is a place where young individuals can learn and grow on their own terms
