## Description

Friends of Nature (FON) is Lebanon’s pioneering environmental NGO, founded in 1972 by Dr. Ricardus Haber to safeguard the nation’s rich natural heritage. Over the decades, FON has spearheaded significant initiatives in marine conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable agriculture, and environmental education. The organization aims to mitigate the threats to Lebanon's ecological diversity through various programs, including the development of marine protected areas and artificial reefs to enhance marine biodiversity.

FON's educational initiatives engage children and youth, nurturing a connection with nature to foster stewardship and awareness. The NGO also supports sustainable agriculture practices that empower local communities while promoting environmental well-being. Effective advocacy and diverse outreach strategies, including workshops, publications, and media engagement, underscore FON's mission to cultivate environmental consciousness.

Operating across Lebanon, Friends of Nature collaborates with local communities and stakeholders to ensure lasting impact and sustainability. With a commitment to climate action and the empowerment of women and youth, FON continues to inspire collective action for a healthier planet.
