FabLabs is the online social network for the international Fab Lab community. It serves as the official platform for the Fab Lab Network, connecting over 1000 Fab Labs in more than 75 countries. FabLabs.io's mission is to align interests and expand the global scale of this creative community through collaboration and communication tools. It provides an exchange platform for people, labs, projects, machines, events, and groups. The Fab Lab Network consists of fabricators, artists, scientists, engineers, educators, students, amateurs, and professionals who share the same principles, tools, and philosophy around the future of technology and its role in society. By using FabLabs.io, all Fab Labs are mapped and connected globally. Moreover, their knowledge and technical and design innovations become embedded in the larger ecosystem of the Fab Lab Network. This platform fosters interactions between designers, makers, and users, encouraging discussions about wider public concerns. FabLabs.io complements existing platforms like Facebook and GitHub and encourages the documentation and sharing of open-source developments.
