## Description

The Integration Service for Deafblind and Hard of Hearing-Sighted People in Bavaria (Fachdienst ITM) is a regional point of contact for people with combined hearing and vision impairments and their families. Established after a three-year project phase in 2009, the service works to improve these people’s participation in community life. It is operated by the Bavarian Self-Help Association (LAG Selbsthilfe Bayern e.V.) and receives financial support from Bavaria’s districts and the state ministry responsible for labor and social affairs, as well as several disability and deafness organizations.

Fachdienst ITM provides information about deafblindness and hearing-vision impairment, including definitions, causes, communication methods, rights, and available concessions. It explains its own goals and work, shares resources and literature, and offers information about events, volunteering, and self-help. A key area is assistance: the service provides a directory of trained assistants for people with hearing and vision impairments, recognizing that support with communication and mobility can help individuals access life beyond their homes. The organization is based in Munich and serves people across Bavaria.
