## Description

The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) is a national organization founded in 1966 that represents more than 1,000 tax-paying community hospitals across the United States. It advocates for hospitals and the patients and communities they serve, with a focus on access to high-quality, affordable health care. FAH’s work includes policy engagement, research, public comments, congressional communications, and educational resources such as articles, infographics, and podcasts. Its policy coverage spans Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, marketplace coverage, rural hospitals, workforce issues, telehealth, quality and safety, hospital integration, surprise billing, prescription drugs, and preparedness. The organization also addresses transparency, insurer accountability, affordability, and program integrity. Through its membership, committees, and national advocacy, FAH works to represent hospitals in discussions about health care policy and payment. Its website provides information about member facilities by state, current policy issues, press coverage, and opportunities to support efforts to keep hospitals strong. FAH is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
