## Description

The Fairfax Falcons Paralympic Sports Team is a youth wheelchair basketball program serving athletes with physical disabilities across Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC area, including nearby Maryland communities. Managed in partnership with the Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services, the team offers an inclusive setting where young people can learn, play, and compete while building confidence, strength, teamwork, independence, and friendships.

The program welcomes eligible athletes aged 4 to 22 who have not graduated high school and have an irreversible lower-extremity disability. Players must be able to push a manual wheelchair independently, but do not need to use one in everyday life or have previous basketball experience. Training and competition are organized into novice, prep, and varsity levels, with instruction tailored to players’ experience and development. Practices take place at community locations in Falls Church and Springfield, with schedules varying by level. The Falcons support athletes at every stage, and alumni have gone on to play college basketball, compete with Team USA, win national championships, and join other competitive teams.
