## Description

The Fair Housing Justice Center (FHJC) works to eliminate housing discrimination and promote open, accessible, and inclusive communities across the New York City region. Founded in 2005, the organization aims to strengthen enforcement of fair housing laws and address persistent residential segregation. It offers free, confidential counseling and investigative services to people who believe they have experienced housing discrimination, helping them understand their rights and options, supporting self-advocacy, and providing legal referrals in certain circumstances. The FHJC also accepts information about discrimination affecting others, including anonymously.

Its work includes undercover testing and investigations involving landlords, real estate agents, lenders, and other housing providers, as well as policy research and advocacy. The organization provides education, outreach, workshops, presentations, and training for other fair housing enforcement programs. Through the Adele Friedman Housing Accessibility Fund, qualified applicants may receive grants for housing accessibility modifications. The FHJC also shares practical resources, including fact sheets, guidebooks, videos, and policy papers.
