Family House SF is a nonprofit organization that serves as a home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Their mission is to provide physical comfort and emotional support to these families, free from financial concerns. Family House offers a sanctuary, providing a safe and worry-free living environment where families can focus on their healing.

They understand the importance of community and strive to create an environment where families naturally connect and find hope, comfort, and healing within each other. Founded in 1981, Family House works in conjunction with the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital to provide temporary housing to qualifying families. They accommodate families who live more than 50 miles from the hospital and are at or below the low-income status.

With a nearly 100% occupancy rate, Family House can accommodate up to 250 people per night and serves over 4,000 families annually. They rely solely on the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, and foundations as they receive no financial support from the hospital or public entities. Family House strives to create a welcoming and inclusive community, embracing the diverse backgrounds and experiences of every person.
