## Description

Fapas is a global provider of proficiency testing and reference materials for laboratories working across food, beverage, water, environmental, cosmetics and other specialist sectors. Accredited to ISO/IEC 17043:2023, the organisation has supported laboratories since 1990, helping them demonstrate competence, maintain accreditation and improve analytical performance through independent testing and clear performance reports.

Its programme includes chemistry and microbiology schemes for food and drink, water and environmental samples, as well as testing for cosmetics, genetically modified organisms, and mining and minerals. Fapas also offers quality control and reference materials to support method validation, internal quality control and routine testing. Virtual proficiency testing exercises assess interpretation, calculations and decision-making without requiring physical samples.

For laboratories with specific needs, Fapas provides bespoke services, designing programmes around specialist matrices, emerging contaminants and collaborative studies. Its scientific team offers technical support throughout each testing round and can advise on programme selection. With representative sample matrices and participation from laboratories worldwide, Fapas helps customers compare results and identify opportunities for continual improvement.
