## Description

Fathom is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit focused on helping society navigate the transition to a world shaped by artificial intelligence. Its mission is to co-design an AI future that works for all, at a time when AI is changing work, education, governance, and civic life faster than institutions can adapt. Fathom finds, builds, and scales practical policy and technical solutions that aim to make AI safe, trustworthy, and beneficial to the public.

The organization translates research, shared values, and policy goals into real-world solutions. Its work includes advancing legislation and public-interest policies, and collaborating with partners in government, industry, and civil society to develop safety and trust architectures. Fathom also publishes research and insights on AI governance, including work on independent verification and the conditions needed for third-party evaluation.

Alongside its policy and research work, Fathom shares news and analysis through its online insights and email updates. The 501(c)(3) organization is funded by philanthropists and states that it does not accept donations from corporations or foreign entities associated with countries of concern.
