## Description

Federscherma, the Italian Fencing Federation (FIS), is the national organisation for fencing in Italy. It oversees the sport’s development and administration, supporting athletes, sports clubs, regional committees and provincial representatives. Its work spans competitive and community fencing, from under-14 participants and youth categories to under-23, senior and masters athletes. The federation coordinates national competitions, training sessions and camps, publishes calendars, rankings, results and sporting regulations, and shares updates on Italian athletes competing at home and abroad.

FIS supports Olympic fencing, Paralympic fencing and historical fencing, as well as fencing for blind and visually impaired participants. Its services include membership, coach and staff training, school projects, medical and insurance information, and administrative guidance for clubs and members. The federation also provides resources on fencing weapons, the sport’s history, honours and past champions. Through its news coverage, video channel, media materials and event galleries, Federscherma keeps the fencing community informed and celebrates the achievements of Italian athletes. Its governance includes federal offices, commissions and sporting justice bodies.
