With a presence in 26 counties across the country, FEDWEN works tirelessly to create long-term investments in the vulnerable Deaf population through capacity building. At FEDWEN, we focus on various programs to address the needs of Deaf women and girls. Our initiatives include advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights, promoting inclusive governance, combating gender-based violence, and empowering individuals through socioeconomic initiatives. We raise awareness and provide advocacy on matters concerning reproductive health and rights, such as family planning, sex education, and menstrual health management. Additionally, we engage the community in civic education, teaching the importance of public participation and the structures of devolved governance to ensure that Deaf individuals are not left behind. We also work towards mitigating violence against Deaf women and girls, who are five times more susceptible to abuse. FEDWEN further advocates for employment rights and skill strengthening for Deaf women and youth, empowering them to be self-employed or seek employment opportunities. Our approach involves community outreach, focus group discussions, awareness-raising through interactions with stakeholders, and collaboration with partners and the media. Our vision is to create an inclusive society where Deaf individuals enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
