## Description

Fostering Futures is an Australian volunteer-led organisation supporting boys and girls in the disadvantaged Tanzanian communities of Farkwa and Gwandi. Its mission is to help children access education and build a stronger future for their families and villages. The organisation offers child sponsorship and accepts donations to fund schooling, including post-secondary study and vocational training. Between 2007 and 2020, it funded 274 children to attend school and supported 105 students with post-secondary education. Its students have gone on to pursue fields such as teaching, hotel management, accountancy, farming, food production, engineering, nursing and trades.

Fostering Futures also raises funds for community projects that benefit students, including school lunch programs, water tanks and toilets at Farkwa and Gwandi secondary schools. Further study can require students to leave their remote villages, and sponsorship may cover fees, accommodation, food and, where needed, a computer. The organisation says its administrative costs are below three per cent, directing most collected funds to its programs.
