About

Description

The Urban Design Forum is a prominent brand and institute that has been shaping the conversation around the design of New York City and cities worldwide for over 35 years. Established in 1979, the Forum traces its roots back to the Institute for Urban Design, founded by journalist Ann Ferebee. In 2005, the Forum for Urban Design was established to discuss the reconstruction of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Today, the Urban Design Forum is a collaborative force, bringing together over 400 Fellows from various disciplines including developers, architects, planners, builders, public officials, scholars, lawyers, and journalists, all devoted to building great cities. The Board of Directors invites distinguished leaders in urban design, planning, and development to participate each year. Additionally, the Forum benefits from the active participation and financial support of the Director's Circle, a group of preeminent designers, developers, investors, and urbanists.

Led by Chair Daniel Rose and President Hugh Hardy, the Urban Design Forum continues to inspire and influence urban design conversations and practices
