# FGSUB - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `fgsub.de` ## Description Friends of the Geoscientific Collection of the University of Bremen (FGSUB e.V.) is a nonprofit support association dedicated to helping develop and enrich the university’s Geoscientific Collection. The collection traces its origins to the late 18th century, when Bremen merchants and seafarers assembled specimens from around the world. Since 1994, it has been housed in the University of Bremen’s Department of Geosciences and now contains approximately 300,000 specimens, including an extensive collection of modern mollusks. Notable objects include an original skeleton of an Irish elk and a distinctive tick preserved in Baltic amber. FGSUB supports the collection through membership contributions, donations, gifts of collections and individual scientifically interesting objects.
