FHF is a state-owned limited company and the Norwegian Seafood Research Fund. It is owned by the Ministry of Trade, industry, and fisheries and is funded by the industry through a levy on exports of Norwegian seafood. FHF initiates, finances, and carries out R&D projects to address these priorities and aims to implement the results in the industry, fostering innovation and value creation. To ensure independence and legitimacy, FHF follows ethical guidelines for industry-financed R&D. They establish reference groups consisting of industry representatives to contribute to the project's relevance and industry value.
