## Description

The International Federation of Actors (FIA) is a global federation of performers’ trade unions, guilds and professional associations. Founded in 1952, it represents hundreds of thousands of performers through around 80 member organisations in more than 60 countries. Based in Brussels, FIA supports its members through international collaboration, policy work, resources and campaigns focused on performers’ rights and conditions.

Its work covers fair remuneration, collective bargaining, health and safety, labour rights, mobility and the status of artists, as well as diversity, inclusion and cultural freedom. FIA also addresses intellectual property and the effects of artificial intelligence on performers. The federation publishes practical guides, reports, policy resources and statements, including materials on AI, circus artists’ working conditions, intimacy coordination and sexual harassment. It provides information on agreements and payment approaches for performers’ work on subscription video-on-demand platforms, and promotes standards such as the WIPO Beijing Treaty. Through regional networks, working groups, projects and union actions, FIA connects affiliates and advocates for performers worldwide.
