## Description

Fietsmaatjes Amersfoort is a community initiative that helps people who cannot cycle independently enjoy outings by bike. Guests ride alongside a volunteer cycling companion on an electric tandem, sharing fresh air, social contact and physical activity. Guests can pedal as much or as little as they wish, while the companion steers; together, they decide how often to ride and where to go. The electric assistance and practical safety features make the tandems easier and more comfortable to use.

The initiative operates from locations across a growing number of Amersfoort neighbourhoods, including Hooglanderveen, Nieuwland, Randenbroek-Schuilenburg, Zuid, the city centre and Soesterkwartier. Nieuwland also has a wheelchair bicycle. The rides are open to people of different ages, and the organisation welcomes guests, volunteer cycling companions, supporters, sponsors and local business partners. Fietsmaatjes Amersfoort also shares route ideas and cycling stories to help people plan enjoyable trips. Its goal is to make shared cycling accessible and bring people together through movement and time outdoors.
