## Description

Filter is a dedicated nonprofit journalism outlet focused on drug use, drug policy and human rights. Its mission is to advocate for rational, compassionate approaches through reporting and commentary that challenge stigma, misinformation and punitive policies. The publication covers the connections between drug policy and everyday life, organizing its work around politics and legalization, harm reduction, injustice, money, and media and culture.

Filter publishes news, investigative and explanatory journalism, personal essays, interviews, guides and analysis. Its coverage addresses topics such as overdose prevention, treatment access, safer drug use, tobacco harm reduction, drug prohibition, criminalization and the experiences of people affected by these issues. Articles draw on perspectives from journalists, researchers, advocates and people with lived experience, offering readers both practical information and insight into wider policy debates.

Rather than selling products or providing clinical services, Filter serves readers with independent editorial content intended to inform public discussion and support more humane responses to drug use.
