## Description

Tai Hang Fire Dragon Heritage Centre is a cultural heritage venue in Hong Kong dedicated to preserving and promoting Tai Hang’s Mid-Autumn Fire Dragon Dance, a national intangible cultural heritage. The tradition dates to 1880 and brings the community together for three nights of processions around the Mid-Autumn Festival, when hundreds of performers carry a dragon adorned with thousands of incense sticks through the neighbourhood.

Housed in a three-storey historic building on School Street, Tai Hang, the centre also tells the story of the building’s past and restoration. Originally built in 1909 as a school run by the Confucius Hall, it was rebuilt after wartime damage and later adapted as a heritage centre. Its displays explore the fire dragon tradition, the area’s changing community and landscape, Hakka culture, and the history of architectural conservation.

Through exhibitions and cultural interpretation, the centre encourages visitors to discover Tai Hang’s local heritage and community character.
