## Description

Fireforest is an educational and visual storytelling project exploring forest fire and restoration in northern Colorado. It focuses on the challenges facing Colorado’s forests, including the legacy of a century of fire suppression and a changing climate that increases the risk of large, severe fires and may hinder forest regeneration. The project highlights the need for restoration at a scale that matches these threats and seeks to encourage a more nuanced public understanding of fire. Rather than treating all fire as universally destructive or focusing only on climate change and damage, Fireforest brings forest health and restoration into the conversation.

Visitors can explore the project through a film about the meeting of forest fire and restoration, a long-term timelapse showing how the forest and Poudre River respond to the Cameron Peak Fire, and detailed photo monitoring of different forest types. A photo essay presents the varied effects of fire on forests. The site also offers information about the project and its contributors, a blog, and an email newsletter for updates.
