## Description

Firelight Media is a nonprofit organization that supports, resources, and advocates for documentary filmmakers of color. Its mission is to strengthen the creation, distribution, and impact of documentary media by and about communities of color, using nonfiction storytelling to contribute to a more just and beautiful world. The organization offers programs for filmmakers at different career stages, including the 12-month Documentary Lab, which provides mentorship, professional development, and a $25,000 project grant to filmmakers making their first or second feature. Other initiatives include regional training for early-career creators, investigative filmmaking and audio fellowships, research and development support, production funding, and assistance with audience engagement campaigns. The Firelight Fund supports Black, Brown, and Indigenous stories from development through distribution, with an emphasis on work advancing social justice. Firelight Media also presents screenings, essays, and conversations through Beyond Resilience, and shares documentary short films and series. Founded by filmmakers, the organization connects creators with resources and opportunities while raising visibility for their work.
