About

Description

FIRST Global is a non-profit organization dedicated to STEM education for young people worldwide. As a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity, FIRST Global was established by Dean Kamen, the founder of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Their mission is to inspire leadership and innovation by providing education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to youth from all nations.

By fostering cross-cultural communication and cooperation through STEM, FIRST Global empowers high-school students to collectively address the world's pressing challenges and develop solutions that enhance the quality of life for all. The core of their efforts is the FIRST Global Challenge, an international robotics competition held annually in a different country. This engaging competition brings together future STEM leaders to enhance their understanding, excitement, and practical application of STEM education.

In addition to the challenge, FIRST Global works to promote STEM education within national governments and organizations, encouraging investment in and support for young adults who will shape the future. They also offer programs such as the Global STEM Corps, which connects volunteers with teams to mentor students in the FIRST Global Challenge, and the Higher Education Network, which provides technical mentoring and guidance to teams from leading universities worldwide. FIRST Global aims to educate, inspire, connect, and build the next generation of global leaders through STEM education and robotics
