## Description

First 5 Sierra is a Sierra County organization dedicated to helping children get the best possible start in life and supporting families across the community. Funded through California’s Proposition 10, which established a tobacco tax to support early childhood programs and smoking cessation activities for adults, the organization focuses on children’s health, development, and early learning. Its work is guided by the belief that children should grow up healthy and happy in strong, resilient families, with opportunities to develop into capable, confident adults.

First 5 Sierra offers a range of programs and services, including free preschool, preschool enrichment, teacher training, parent support, dental health services, and prenatal vitamins. It also provides the Imagination Library, supports Safe Sierra Kids, and offers mini grants for eligible funding needs. Through these initiatives, First 5 Sierra aims to strengthen early education and promote healthy development for children from birth, while providing resources that benefit families throughout Sierra County.
