# Fish For Life - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `fishforlife.ro` ## Description Fish for Life is an environmental project focused on restoring natural river processes and improving the health of the Gilort River in Gorj County, Romania. It highlights the importance of rivers as sources of water, recreation and learning, as well as habitats for wildlife and essential parts of community life. The project works through ecological restoration, integrated water management and cooperation with public institutions and local communities. Its key actions include building two fish passages to help species such as the common nase migrate along the river, planting native species to sustainably stabilise riverbanks across at least 10 hectares, and improving habitat diversity for four fish species along a 26-kilometre stretch of the Gilort. Fish for Life also shares project updates, educational materials, maps, photographs and videos, and promotes public engagement through events such as World Water Day activities. The project’s beneficiary is the Gorj Environmental Protection Agency, with associated beneficiaries also involved.
