About

Description

Fish Friendly Farming is an environmental certification program dedicated to promoting sustainable farming practices. Run by the California Land Stewardship Institute (CLSI), a non-profit organization based in Napa County, Fish Friendly Farming works with farmers and landowners to implement stewardship programs and projects that enhance environmental conservation. The program offers certification to members who adhere to beneficial stewardship practices, promoting the use of scientific studies and resource conservation activities.

Fish Friendly Farming operates in ten counties, including Sonoma, Mendocino, Napa, and Solano. With a team of environmental scientists, CLSI collaborates with local districts, non-profit organizations, and regulatory agencies to design and implement environmental projects. They also provide marketing and promotion on behalf of certified members.

Since its inception in 1999, when it was initially developed for the Russian River watershed, the Fish Friendly Farming program has expanded to include additional watersheds and counties. Over 150,000 acres have been enrolled in the program so far, making a significant impact in promoting sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship
