## Description

From the Fishouse is a vibrant nonprofit organization founded in 2004 by Matt O'Donnell and Camille Dungy, dedicated to celebrating and promoting the oral tradition of poetry. Based in Pittston, Maine, this innovative platform features a free online audio archive where emerging poets—those with fewer than two published poetry books—can share their works and insights into the writing process.

By leveraging online technology, From the Fishouse aims to enhance public access to the voices of new poets while serving as an educational resource for students and educators. The platform doesn't only spotlight emerging talent; it also showcases established poets who have made significant contributions to the literary world. The name "Fishouse" pays homage to the writer Lawrence Sargent Hall, whose inspirational writing cabin has become symbolic of artistic creativity.

Whether you are a poetry lover, a student, or a curious listener, From the Fishouse offers a rich tapestry of contemporary poetry that connects voices across generations.
