## Description

The International Panel on Fissile Materials (IPFM) is an independent group of arms-control and nonproliferation experts from both nuclear weapon and non-nuclear weapon states. Founded in January 2006, their mission is to analyze the technical basis for practical policy initiatives to secure, consolidate, and reduce stockpiles of highly enriched uranium and plutonium, crucial components of nuclear weapons. IPFM aims to end the production and use of these materials, promoting nuclear disarmament, preventing weapon proliferation, and thwarting terrorist acquisition. The Panel, co-chaired by esteemed academics, collaborates with experts from seventeen countries, advocating for the reduction of military and civilian stocks of fissile materials worldwide. IPFM shares its research and reports with international organizations, governments, and NGOs, conducting meetings and workshops globally to advance its objectives. With support from Princeton University and esteemed foundations, IPFM is at the forefront of efforts to address the complexities of nuclear security.
