## Description

Five Blue Lakes is an independent project focused on the islands of the Great Lakes. Created by Karen, the site documents her research and writing journey as she works on a book about the region’s islands. It also provides a place to share discoveries, observations, and stories that may not appear in the book, including interesting and unusual details about the lakes and their islands.

The website organizes its coverage around the five Great Lakes—Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario—and invites readers to explore information about the islands in each. Visitors can follow project updates and connect with Five Blue Lakes through its Facebook business page, Twitter, and Instagram. The site also offers a blog subscription by email, allowing readers to receive notifications when new posts are published. At its 2021 launch, Karen planned to post each Friday and welcomed questions and comments by email. Five Blue Lakes serves as an ongoing window into a research project, sharing the learning and experiences behind a book about the Great Lakes’ islands.
