## Description

Frédéric J.P. Richard is a professor of applied mathematics at Aix-Marseille Université and a member of the Marseille Mathematics Institute. His work focuses on image processing, spatial statistics and data science, developing mathematical models and methods for analysing structured data such as images, surfaces and graphs. These approaches are applied in fields including medicine, neuroscience and industry. His research includes statistical analysis and simulation of image textures, anisotropic random fields, medical imaging and surface analysis, with publications and software projects supporting this work, including the Python library PyAFBF for simulating anisotropic image textures.

Alongside research, Richard has taught mathematics, statistics and programming, including Python, MATLAB and SAS, at university graduate levels. He has contributed to the Applied Mathematics and Statistics master’s programme and supervises student internships and doctoral researchers. He also directs Aix-Marseille Université’s mathematics department and the Eureka service at the Institut Archimède, which connects businesses seeking mathematics and computing expertise with academic laboratories to support technology development and innovation.
