## Description

FKW // Zeitschrift für Geschlechterforschung und visuelle Kultur is a pioneering scholarly journal dedicated to the exploration of visual culture through the lens of gender studies. Established in 1986, FKW serves as a platform for critical discussions about the societal and gender-political significance of visual representations. The journal publishes biannually and features thematic focuses that address current debates in science and culture, accompanied by review essays and sections highlighting contemporary artists' works. Each issue aims to enhance understanding of gender dynamics in visual representations while promoting the position of gender-critical artists. FKW adopts an open-access model, ensuring all contributions are freely available for reading and downloading, thus fostering a wider audience engagement. Since its transformation to an open-access format in 2013, FKW has continued to play a vital role in the German-speaking scholarly environment, providing a unique space for interdisciplinary dialogue that bridges artistic expression and academic inquiry in gender studies.
