## Description

Flammes Postales is a French online collection dedicated to postal slogan cancels, preserving a distinctive part of the country’s graphic and postal heritage. Created to manage and share a private collection, the site helps visitors explore France through postmarks produced between 1919 and 2007. It also supports collectors seeking to identify examples and rediscover a former means of communication that has not been used since 2007.

The collection features more than 13,700 indexed postmarks covering nearly 3,924 communes. Visitors can browse by French department, including overseas departments, or search by themes such as tourism, exhibitions, commemorations, advertising, sport, local identity, and notable people. Additional sections cover envelopes, foreign material, and featured individuals. A map, search tools, and records of recent additions make the archive accessible for browsing and research. Flammes Postales presents this material as a resource for both enthusiasts and the wider public, inviting people to contribute postmarks they no longer want to keep rather than discard them. The collection has been developed since 2005.
