## Description

Florence Arts Centre is a participatory arts centre in Egremont, located on the site of a former iron ore mine. It welcomes visitors to explore exhibitions, take part in creative activities, or relax in its café and wildlife garden. Entry to the gallery, café and garden is free during regular opening hours, with additional visits and courses available by arrangement.

The centre offers workshops, artist talks, demonstrations and community sessions for different ages and experience levels. Activities include painting, drawing, printing, ceramics and craft gatherings, with options for drop-in participation and group bookings. Its Florence Paintmakers studio uses traditional methods to create artist materials with local pigments, including the distinctive Egremont red made from iron ore. Visitors can join demonstrations or purchase these materials online and in the on-site shop, which also stocks handmade gifts and cards from associated artists.

The café serves Fair Trade coffee, Cumbrian tea, local baking, snacks and drinks in a dog-friendly setting.
