## Description

Florida Aquatic Preserves is a statewide conservation program managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection. It safeguards more than 5.3 million acres of submerged lands and coastal uplands, protecting the ecosystems and natural heritage that shape Florida’s coastline and inland waters. The program includes 43 aquatic preserves, three National Estuarine Research Reserves, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, and the St. Joseph Bay State Buffer Preserve.
