## Description

Beyond the Flow is a youth-led initiative based in Nairobi, Kenya, working to advance menstrual equity, sexual and reproductive health education, and youth leadership in underserved communities. Through school-based and community-centered programs, it helps adolescents build knowledge, confidence, and agency while promoting the rights, safety, and dignity of girls and women.

Its flagship program, Flowing Wisdom, is a yearlong menstrual health and empowerment journey for young people aged 11–17. Participants receive education on menstruation, puberty, consent, boundaries, and sexual and reproductive health, alongside dignity kits, peer mentorship, and access to safe spaces. The program also supports student-led education, advocacy campaigns, and creative projects, with graduates able to join an alumni network as Menstrual Health Ambassadors.

Beyond the Flow also offers mentorship, education support, counseling, leadership opportunities, advocacy, and community engagement. Its work includes providing menstrual products and partnering with schools, educators, families, and communities. The initiative focuses on public schools in informal settlements and peri-urban areas, where period poverty, stigma, and limited health education can affect young people’s well-being and education.
