# Aero-Club Hagen e.V. - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `flugplatz-suemmern.de` ## Description Aero-Club Hagen e.V. is a nonprofit flying club based at Iserlohn-Sümmern airfield, serving aviation enthusiasts from the surrounding region for more than 80 years. Located on the northern edge of the Sauerland, the airfield provides a home for around 160 members, including a youth group of more than 40. The club focuses on gliding, pilot training, and participation in soaring competitions, while making enjoyment and shared enthusiasm for flying central to its community. Visitors can arrange guest flights in a glider or powered aircraft and experience flying before deciding whether to join. Members can learn to glide through a club-based training program, progressing from initial flights in a two-seat aircraft toward a pilot licence and, for experienced pilots, longer cross-country flights. Volunteer instructors provide practical instruction using the club’s two-seat and single-seat aircraft, alongside theory in subjects such as navigation, aerodynamics, and meteorology.
