## Description

The Fondation du Modélisme à Vapeur Vive is a Swiss public-benefit foundation dedicated to preserving and sharing the heritage of live steam railway modelling. Established in 2010 and recognized as serving the public interest since 2013, it safeguards a distinctive collection of locomotives, steam machines, railway objects and related documentation. Its work includes conserving and restoring these pieces, maintaining the specialist skills they represent, and making this technical and industrial heritage accessible to future generations.

The foundation is creating the Swiss Museum of Live Steam Modelling within Swiss Vapeur Parc in Le Bouveret. Its museum building, a quarter-scale replica of Lausanne’s 1911 locomotive depot, is intended to house the collection and an educational exhibition. Visitors will be able to explore how steam locomotives work through displays, films, interactive features and activities, while some collection machines continue to operate on the park’s railway. The museum is designed for families, schools, enthusiasts and curious visitors, offering an engaging introduction to steam power, railway history and precision model engineering.
