About

Description

FNI, or La Fédération Nationale des Infirmiers, is a syndicate that has been representing Infirmiers Diplômés d'Etat Libéraux (IDEL) since 1949. With a membership of 120,000 liberal nurses, FNI is a representative force in the healthcare profession. FNI aims to advocate for the interests of nurses and ensure the improvement of healthcare access and the redefinition of healthcare professionals' competencies.

In line with the government's set goals, FNI focuses on providing a primary care doctor to the 600,000 French citizens with long-term illnesses and alleviating congestion in emergency services. Progress has been made in these areas, with 53,000 ALD patients finding a primary care doctor and emergency room visits decreasing by 5%. Furthermore, FNI actively promotes initiatives such as the establishment of certificates of death by nurses and the treatment of chronic wounds to ease pressure on emergency services.

The organization also supports the government's plan to enhance healthcare accessibility by generalizing CPTS, creating more medical homes, and recruiting assistants to reach the objective of 10,000 assistants set by Emmanuel Macron. FNI has been actively engaged in the transformation of the nursing profession, implementing the law RIST to address the issue of temporary replacements, strengthening coordination between healthcare professionals through ESCAP, and expanding the scope of nurses' competencies by allowing them to prescribe vaccinations. The organization has also achieved success in negotiating compensation for inflation effects in paramedical acts.

However, FNI remains cautious about the future, considering the impending fiscal challenges for public accounts and the tight budget anticipated for the health insurance system in 2024. Despite the uncertainties, FNI welcomes new members to join their cause for a strong nursing profession
