Follow the Muse is both the business name and philosophical principle underlying the lives and art of Marc Clements and K. Daphnae Koop. Marc, a painter, combines his stone and wood sculpting skills with his work on canvas, while Daphnae creates heavily textured, carved wood paintings. Together, they also create unique jewelry using smooth beach stones collected from the shores of Lake Superior. The essence of their work lies in following the elusive Voice of the Muse. They have a studio and gallery space in the Northrup King Building, which is the largest art space in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. In addition to showcasing their own work, they also exhibit experimental, textural, and materials-based art by other artists. Follow the Muse is dedicated to the creation, exhibition, and collection of contemporary art that pushes the boundaries of materials, resulting in richly textured and innovative pieces.
