FSHRD is a brand that aims to promote sustainable livelihoods in Rural India through capacity building, empowerment, and entrepreneurship. Their vision is to foster ideas that ensure national integration, sustainable socio-economic development, and the empowerment of communities, especially women. FSHRD has set key goals to realize their vision, including encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship among youth, skill development and capacity building of rural communities, promoting better participation of women in the workforce, and creating livelihood opportunities in rural and tribal areas. FSHRD follows a social enterprise model to have a self-sustained enterprise, focusing on entrepreneurship development and capability building of communities. They work closely with rural communities, inspired by the idea of providing urban amenities in rural areas (PURA), originally proposed by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. They have established a Rural Development Institution called NAV-PRABHANAM, which offers electronic, economic, and knowledge connectivity to more than 40 villages. FSHRD also provides employable IT skills training to students from low-income and middle-class families through their training centers. FSHRD follows a social franchising model to promote entrepreneurship and employability among youth. The revenue generated by these entrepreneurial centers is reinvested in research and development for the development of communities. With their commitment to equality and access to knowledge, skills, and financial independence, FSHRD strives to bring positive change and empower people regardless of gender, caste, creed, or religion.
